Dr. Masaru Tanaka

Director of Sustainability Research Institute, TottoriUniversity of Environmental Studies

He is now Adjunct Professor and Director, Sustainability Research Institute, Tottori University of Environmental Studies, Tottori Japan. He is also the president of Waste Management and 3R Research Foundation, Tokyo, Japan. His private consulting firm "Research Institute of Solid Waste Management Engineering (RISWME)" was established in April 2007 and he is the president of that.

 

He majored sanitary engineering to get B.S. in sanitary engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan. Then he got Ph.D. in Environmental Health Engineering, 1970, Northwestern University, Illinois, USA

 

Before joining Tottori University of Environmental Studies, (2008-present), he was professor at Okayama University, Japan (2000-2008), Director of Department of Waste Management Engineering, National Institute of Public Health, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Japan (1976-2001), Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Wayne State University, Michigan, USA (1970-1974)

 

Served as a chairperson of the Solid Waste Management and Recycling Experts Committee, Central Environment Council, Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan Past President of the Japan Society of Waste Management Experts (2000-2002)
