Mr. Mike Robbins

Provost of Stirling

Provost Mike Robbins

Vision

‘We are entering a difficult period in Scottish politics but I feel that in Stirling we have a great variety of talent and expertise in our councillors, irrespective of party affiliations. A key part of my role as Provost will be to harness those talents and urge all members to work together for the benefit of all our citizens.

I am delighted to represent Dunblane and Bridge of Allan ward and to the best of my knowledge, am the second councillor from Dunblane to hold this post. I will strive to encourage inward investment to our city, maximise the tourism potential of our outstanding countryside and protect our environment.’

Background

Mike has a diverse and fascinating professional background, providing him with superb experience for his new role. He has been a self-employed management consultant for the past 12 years. Over the past four years he carried out a number of commissions in East Africa as a technical advisor to the governments of Kenya and Zambia.

Mike trained as an internal consultant with the Civil Service College and has worked in most central government departments, training senior managers in leadership and management development. Earlier in life he trained as a housing manager and held posts within local authorities in both England and Scotland.

He is also an associate of a leading negotiation consultancy and has delivered training solutions a number of FTSE 100 companies.

Dunblane

Mike and his wife, Jayne, have lived in Dunblane since 1987, having spent a short period in temporary council accommodation in Fallin - where they still have firm friends. They have two grown-up children, both born in SRI, who are now in higher education.

The Robbins family love Dunblane and have established many lasting friendships. Mike is an active parishioner of the Holy Family Church and enjoys the odd game of golf when time permits. He last played in the Lusaka Golf Club in February and had a great time dodging snakes whilst searching for lost balls.
