Richard Perez holds Master Degree’s in both Innovation Design and Business Administration with over 15 years of professional consulting experience in the global design and innovation industry.

He is currently contracted by the City of Cape Town as the Program Director for World Design Capital 2014, where he is responsible in overseeing the delivery of this prestigious designation. He is also responsible in developing and managing the City’s internal projects for 2014, where he heads up a dynamic team within the City administration. The team is focused on leveraging the 2014 opportunity regards fostering design led innovation and design thinking methodologies across the organisation - embedding design as a tool for transformation as well as a methodology to deal with the complex challenges that the City administration faces.

Richard combines his engineering, design and business acumen to drive innovation theories and practices; applying convergent and divergent thinking strategies within a design thinking context to help position the City of Cape Town administration as an innovative organisation within the public sector domain.
